Kingfisher Perched on a Branch Painting: The Kingfisher – a shy bird that inhabits many areas around the world. It has a large head, a long dagger-like bill and stubby tail. Always significant is the bright blue and yellow/orange plumage. It swoops down in a flash from its perch to catch its prey in rivers or lakes.
