ABOUT ME

Stanley Port

ARTIST - LANDSCAPES, SEASCAPES & FIGURATIVE PAINTINGS

I have been painting for 25 years.  I travel frequently to lots of countries and my observations along the way often become the inspiration for my paintings. I am based in the beautiful town of Marlow on the River Thames in Buckinghamshire, England.

Working with acrylics, I paint many subject genres. Light, contrast and harmonious colour are all-important to me. The light is often fleeting in nature, but can be captured as a permanent record in a painting.

I am particularly keen on techniques of atmospheric and linear projection to enhance the feeling of 3-D depth on what is inevitably a 2-D painting surface. The objective is to get mood into the paintings, which hopefully will appeal to all those of you who love nature and beautiful places

As a self-taught artist, I have been a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts for many years. I am a member of local art societies and groups, having exhibited in locations in SE England. I have paintings in collections in the UK, Europe and USA. Previously a chartered engineer, I hold a PhD, and was a Fellow of two UK engineering institutions and a Visiting Professor of Civil Engineering.
