This painting of Torre del Aguila shows a small defensive tower standing on a rock promontory called Punta del Aguila on a beautiful stretch of coast on Lanzarote, one of the Canary Islands. The tower is also known as Castillo de las Coloradas. It was built in the 18th century with the purpose of fending off attacks by pirates.
