Heart of England Painting by Stanley Port. This is a painting of the small village of Lower Slaughter in the Cotswolds, England. This is often considered the prettiest village in England. Just over a mile from Bourton-on-the-Water are the twin villages of Upper and Lower Slaughter. This one has flower-draped cottages, stone footbridges, a river running through the middle of the village, and a picturesque water mill.
