indian girl watercarrier painting:  The inspiration for this painting was an Indian peasant girl dressed in a colourful sari in Rajasthan, observed when travelling to the desert city of Jaisalmer. The sari is the traditional dress of women in India, consisting of a very long piece of cloth swathed around the body. Indian girls, such as this, traditionally can carry heavy objects on their head, obviously resulting in impressive poise!
